You are a GP and a 14-year-old girl is your next patient. She would like you to prescribe her the contraceptive pill because she is sexually active. Your assessor asks you what you would do if you were her doctor. Please pick one option:

Option A

Ask her more about what forms of contraception she is currently using and if her parents/guardian are aware.

Option B

Because she is legally still a minor, you would inform her parents or guardian.

Option C

Because she is under the legal age to have sex, you would involve the police.

Option D

You would assess her capacity to make decisions about contraception for herself.

Option E

I would prescribe her choice of contraception to make sure she is protected and also inform her parents of this decision.

Option F

If she is able to weigh up the risks and benefits of her treatment, you would not have to inform her parents/guardian.
